Saginaw family photograph album, 1929-1933

Volume 078, Tinder Albums [Tinder A.1.1929]

Photograph album related to an unidentified family based in Saginaw, Michigan. Images date from January 1929 to February 1933 and are arranged chronologically. Many are captioned. Of note are pictures of the unidentified compiler's home and Christmas tree, a woman playing a stringed instrument, people ice skating, storefronts and other buildings coated with ice following a winter storm, Easter decorations, the "West Side Fire, Hamilton Square" of March 10th 1929, floods, portraits of various people, zoos, trips to Columbus, Ohio (one in which the woman who took all or most of the album's photographs is included in a wedding photo with her face out of frame), scenes in Shawnee, Ohio, and the Sunken Gardens outside of Columbus, scenes at Niagara Falls, an "Aerocar," snowstorms in Saginaw, a "Policeman's Ball," Mother's Day celebrations, "Cook's Grove," a Goodyear picnic and parade at Chippewa Lake in which the Goodyear Blimp makes an appearance, the Saginaw County Fair, Rose Island, Houghton Lake, a Boy Scout Jamboree, Bay City, and Traverse City. Also present are a series of time exposure experiment photographs as well as "card board set up" and "electric" exposures, colorized images, and night photographs. Includes approximately 530 photographs and 9 travel notes. Volume 18.5 x 28 cm.

Photograph album containing assemblage of loose images taken by Olin J. Baker of scenes in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Of note are images of homes, the Kent County World War I memorial, a textile factory and woodworking factory, the Grand Rapids Art Gallery, the dining area of a restaurant, a basketball court, cars, a theater, church pews and an altar, three wolves on a snowy incline, and a Christmas shop display with dolls. Includes 52 photographs. Volume 20 x 28 cm.

Corduroy Rubber Company photograph album, 1939-1940

Volume 080, Tinder Albums [Tinder A.1.1939]

Photograph album documenting the Corduroy Rubber Co. of Fuller, Michigan. Most images have captions. Of note are views of laboratory spaces, abrasion machines, tensile machines, the machine used to test "tire cord," display boards used presentations at the 1939 Round Table Club and Engineer's Club, a "cord twist tester, machinery in the "curing room," "safety shots," a coal silo, "Banbury" machines, and downtown Grand Rapids window displays. Also present are images of the process of receiving, storing, cutting, and curing rubber for tires, a "maintenance outing," a bowling banquet, the women's and men's company softball teams, the horseshoe team, a fashion show, and newspaper photographs of a victory garden presumably supported by the Corduroy Rubber Co. Includes 80 photographs. Volume 20 x 28 cm.
