Ann Arbor World War I photograph album, 1917-1918
Photograph album containing images of the University of Michigan campus during World War I after the United States had entered the conflict. Of note are views of various campus buildings including the Michigan Union (captioned "New Michigan Union, 'Navy Mess Hall') following its conversion into a barracks and mess hall for the the Students' Army Training Corps, aerial views of Ann Arbor, a steamboat "at anchor," and numerous portraits of young men in uniform. Also present are images of young men and women together, a dairy farmer with his calves, personal residences and/or farmhouses, and a man sitting in the midst of some type of wreckage. Set of two photograph albums used as sample books for postcard sales by the Co-Mo Post Card Company containing postcards showing scenes from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The first album contains information on the consignment of postcards as well as a price list on the first and last pages respectively as well as images of Negaunee and L'Anse. The second album contains images of Copper Harbor, Eagle Harbor, Mohawk, and Phoenix. Includes 56 postcards and 1 real photo postcard. 2 volumes each 14.5 x 20.5 cm.
