The correspondence series is made up of letters Cohn sent and received throughout his career. Cohn sorted the correspondence alphabetically by last name, making special room for his two primary correspondents, fellow poets David Cope and Randy Roark.

The Correspondence series contains 9 linear feet of letters to and from Inglis. A tireless correspondent, she often combined business and personal matters with her associates. The folders are arranged alphabetically within each series, and notes are made if letters are (to) or (from) the individuals listed.

The Correspondence series is comprised of three subseries: Poets and Writers, Permissions to Reprint, and General Correspondence. The Poets and Writers and Permissions to Reprint subseries are arranged alphabetically, and within folders, chronologically. The poets and writers collection includes letters written by Gwendolyn Brooks, Etheridge Knight, Nikki Giovanni, Audre Lorde, and Dudley Randall. The most prolific correspondents were Gwendolyn Brooks and James Emanuel. The General Correspondence subseries is arranged chronologically.
