In addition to practice with individual letters, several phrases appear including "Pater und Mutter" [Father and Mother], "Bruder Friedrich" [Brother Friedrich], and "Was Gott thut das ist wohlgethan" [From what God ordains is always good].

Mamie P. Schultz of Worcester, Pennsylvania, kept this notebook while a student at "Metz's School" in Worcester, Pennsylvania, in 1891. It contains notes pertaining to American and English literature, providing biographical information about various poets and authors and details of their published works. The volume also contains a list of twenty-four English and American writers and a poem entitled "History" detailing the progression of American presidents.

Mamie P. Schultz of Worcester, Pennsylvania, kept this notebook while a student at "Metz's School" in Worcester, Pennsylvania. It contains notes pertaining to American and English literature, providing biographical information about various poets and authors and details of their published works, distinguished between prose, poetry, and novels.

Schultz included content on figures such as William Cullen Bryant, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, John G. Whittier, James Russel Lowell, Edgar Allan Poe, Benjamin Franklin, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Bayard Taylor, Washington Irving, Alice Cary, George Bancroft, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Geoffrey Chaucer, William Shakespeare, and Oliver Goldsmith. The volume also contains a list of twenty-four English and American writers and a poem entitled "History" detailing the progression of American presidents. Schultz's examination marks for all her school subjects are recorded near the end of the volume, with her highest mark of 100 being received in literature. The inside front cover and title page bear three colored stamps of butterflies and two male laborers.

This album, belonging to Martha Louise "Mattie" Day, contains 26 self-portraits drawn by Mattie's "C. H. S." classmates, and includes profile drawings, names, and brief comments relating to a shared experience.

Mattie wrote, "You are requested to draw your picture, with appropriate remarks" on the front paste-down. The bulk of the drawings were done by her female classmates, and their writing often referenced memories involving Mattie. Some made self-deprecating remarks about their appearances. "A. H." wrote, "When this you see/don't forget the eve we played and I beat you all at dominoes." Adilia H. wrote, "The rose is red/the violet blue/sugar is sweet/and so are you Mattie. Ever your friend." Many include the note, "Class '78 C.H.S." One pink ribbon is laid into the volume.

This is a collection of four responses she received from Little, Brown, & Company; American Publishing Co.; the Boston Public Library; and the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences. Wilson's A History of the Black Phalanx, John M. Langston's From the Virginia Plantation to the National Capitol, and John H. Paynter's Joining the Navy, or Abroad with Uncle Sam.

Artist "N. B." created this series of seven captioned illustrations and dedicated it to John L. Flagg in 1859. Titled "The Coming Man A Tragedy," the line drawings follow a woman's courtship beginning with the receipt of a letter from a potential suitor, her preparations for his visit, and the suitors' subsequent cancelling of the event.

The woman in the story received a letter from "Mr. Jones," stating that he would be coming soon; she then practiced songs he liked, made his favorite pudding, prepared a room, and dressed nice, only to receive a letter stating that he could not come.

The volume's title was created with letters shaped like humans and horses.

The Nelson Miles European travel photograph album contains approximately 127 photographs documenting a trip to southern Europe undertaken by U.S. Army officer Lieutenant-General Nelson Appleton Miles and John Brooks Henderson, Jr., primarily in order to observe the Greco-Turkish War of 1897.

The album (28 x 37 cm) has green cloth covers with the word "Photographs" stamped on the front. The inside of the front cover bears the inscription "Personal Travel Album of General Nelson Miles" as well as a loose color print from 1888 depicting Lt. Gen. Miles in full campaign dress. Contents consist of images of Athens and Lamia in Greece, a shot of Lt. Gen. Miles and other officers at rest, a series of photographs that appear to have been taken through binoculars, and views of Castle Angelo and the Coliseum in Rome, Pompeii, an excavation site, the Doge’s Palace and San Marco Square in Venice, Vienna, and Corfu.

The New England, Boston, bridge engineering collection consists of 56 photographs including scenes in New England and New York and a railroad drawbridge under construction as well as a series of 11 half-tone images of Boston landmarks.

The photographer/compiler of the collection has not been identified. Photographs are included on loose pages that appear to have once been bound together. The initial grouping of photographs includes major landmarks such as Grant’s Tomb, scenes of action on city streets, and serene views of rocky shorelines. Automobiles only appear in a couple of photos. The steel railroad drawbridge documented in the second section can definitively be dated to 1908 when the Pennsylvania Steel Company built Bridge Number 3.40, better known as the “Bronx River Bascules,” for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad.

The final grouping of half-tones shows Boston as a modern, progressive city. Most of the images are derived from photographs, but the image of the new opera house was rendered from an illustration.

The collection includes Dr. Clarke’s biographical materials, papers, memorabilia, and his collection on the heart and his research interests.

The collection includes Dr. Clarke’s biographical materials, papers, memorabilia, and his collection on the heart and his research interests. The papers include certificates of appreciation, membership, degrees earned, an autobiographical manuscript, correspondence, materials related to his collecting interests, Polyclinic, professional papers he presented at conferences and associations, and published articles that he wrote. Correspondence includes both personal and professional correspondence, some of which relates to CMU and the CHL. The memorabilia includes plaques of appreciation, mason paraphernalia, and an academic hood, probably from CMU. His collection of publications and information about the heart, ethylene diamino tetraacetic acid (EDTA), endate, and chelation therapy reflect his research and professional interests. Also included are audiovisual materials, mostly cassette tapes, of research topics of interest to Dr. Clarke and a tape of an award dinner where he was honored for his long service to Providence Hospital. Photographs and other visual or illustrative materials are found throughout the collection.

A 2023 addition includes 1 folder of family photographs of Dr. Clarke, Sr. and his parents, Hannah Grove Clarke and James George Clarke, a veterinarian, and photographs of the veterinary office and livery stable, where he worked, and the family home. Other family photographs are of his wife, Lucile C. Hogan (1892-1968), and her extended Proud family, and a Vermont one-room school in Vermont where a Proud relative attended or taught. The photographs have tape and edge damage. Information taped to them about the images was removed and photocopied and a photocopy is found immediately after each related photograph.

The Norwalk, Ohio family photograph albums consist of two volumes containing approximately 560 photographs that depict an unidentified family, their homes, vacations, and construction of a house.

Volume 1: This album (29 x 36 cm) has black leather covers and black paper pages. Images include many affectionate pictures of children and pets as well as photographs of family vacations, homes, and the construction of a large house. At the end of the album, several photographs of children that appear earlier are replicated in larger formats.

Volume 2: This volume (35.5 x 43 cm) is a leather portfolio bearing an elaborate embossed elephant design on the front cover. Contained within is a series of thirty large format mounted photographs of the same house that is pictured while under construction in Volume 1. Photographs include views of surrounding natural scenery and gardens, exterior shots of the house, and images showing the porch and sunroom.
