This manuscript rhyming poem written by "Hazel" is about a young girl who hung an extra Christmas stocking for an impoverished child, and Santa Claus' enlistment of elves to help provide gifts.

The poem is written in a blank book bound with red, white, and green braid, and pages featuring printed decorative borders of holly. The volume also features six watercolor illustrations depicting Santa, the elves, and the gifts in the stockings. The cover bears the title and painted holly and leaves.

An inscription on inside front cover reads "A merry Christmas from Hazel."

A distance education program designed to provide "university-style approach to workplace education and training" for Ford auto plant workers. Developed at the University of Michigan the Institute for Labor and Industrial Relations (ILIR), and the UM-Dearborn College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters, the program is now centered at University of Michigan-Dearborn. Records include material on the founding of the program and some curriculum material.

The UAW-Ford University record group covers the period from 1995 to 2001 and primarily represents the involvement of the University of Michigan School of Social Work in the development and early administration of the UAW-Ford University and efforts at developing educational counseling and distance education programs. Materials include planning files, digital content containing examples of curriculum and resources, and various proposals and reports. The records are organized into five series: History and Proposals, Reports, Meetings, Plant-level Studies and Educational Resources.

Union Sabbath School (Ashland, Ohio) record book, 1874-1884

This volume contains records of the Union Sabbath School (District 4) in Ashland, Ohio, between 1874 and 1884. It includes meeting minutes and information; notes on readings, prayers, and singing; names of student speakers; attendance; numbers of members raised; class rosters; and elections. School activities included going on picnics, singing songs from the book "Dew Drops," and sometimes giving questions to students to consider before the next meeting. Also laid into the volume are three letters written between 1908 and 1915, addressed to Karl B. Smith from Mrs. E. H. Naromon, his landlady, and Dorcas, his aunt.

United States. Army. 3rd Cavalry Regiment receipts, 1876-1878

This collection is made up of nine receipts for payments made by 3rd Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army largely in Wyoming Territory (W.T.) and Nebraska between December 11, 1876, and October 31, 1878. The bulk of the receipts were for purchases and expenditures related to the regimental band in 1878. They include receipts for musical instrument supplies such as silver keys and cocoa wood for clarinet, keys and an ivory mouthpiece for flute, keys and an ivory mouthpiece for piccolo, and a bow, case, strings, and rosin for viola. Two receipts are for extra pay to the band leader. A list of property belonging to the band is also present. Other receipts are for purchases of groceries and livestock (corn, onion, peas, beet seeds, turkeys, sheep).

Topics covered by the collection include army strategy and logistics; the battles of Buena Vista, National Bridge, Vera Cruz, and Cerro Gordo; guerilla warfare; efforts to restore peace; American impressions of Mexico and its inhabitants; and many others.

The United States War with Mexico Ccollection spans March 19, 1845, to [after 1894], with the bulk concentrated around 1846 to 1848. Topics covered by the collection include army strategy and logistics; the battles of Buena Vista, National Bridge, Vera Cruz, and Cerro Gordo; guerilla warfare; efforts to restore peace; and American impressions of Mexico and its inhabitants. Office responsible for planning and managing the university's official and ceremonial events, including commencements, faculty and student honors convocations, and development events such as University Seminars and President's Weekends; also manages operation of the President's House and Inglis House. Consists of files of events arranged by year including planning files, scripts, programs, guest lists, decoration, and event set up. Many event files include photographs; particularly University Seminars where faculty gave presentations to key university supporters. Some audio-visual materials are also present, including audiocassettes, digital recordings, and videocassettes.

Records of the University and Development Events office include files on major recurring campus events as well as special dedications and occasions. Events files often contain planning materials, correspondence, programs, scripts, invitation lists, newspaper clippings, and photographs. Photographs often depict decorations and event setup as well as those in attendance. The records are arranged within two series: Event Files and Audio-Visual Material.

Student-controlled bookstore at the University of Michigan (established 1970, ceased operation in 1987.) Minutes and memoranda of board of directors, financial records, labor negotiation files, and other subject files; and photographs.

The records of the University Cellar have been arranged into three series: History and background; Administrative records; and Former employees files. The bulk of the records concerns the administration of University Cellar with extensive documentation of its financial operations and labor negotiations with the Industrial Workers of the World. Included are board of directors minutes and minutes of the Store, Retail, and Operations Councils.

Organized in 1879 to "cultivate the public taste for music," the Society sponsors concert series, opera, dance and theater performances at the University of Michigan. The records consist of director's files of Albert A. Stanley, Charles A. Sink, Gail Rector, and Kenneth Fischer; include correspondence relating to performances and management of the Society; ledgers and account books, board of directors minutes and packets; files concerning the Choral Union, the University of Michigan School of Music, the Henry S. Frieze Memorial Organ Fund, and Hill Auditorium; also visual materials and audiotapes of Board meetings.

The records of the University Musical Society document its founding in 1879, governance and administrative restructuring through the years, its activities sponsoring musical, dance and theatrical performances on campus, and its role in music and arts education. The records include directors' correspondence files, board of directors minutes, ledgers and financial records, photographs, sound recordings and videotapes.

Intellectually, the records are organized into eight series: Directors' Correspondence, Financial records, Historical file, Board of Directors, Committees, Topical File, Contracts, Photographs, President's Correspondence, Staff Files, Executive Directors' Files, and Motion Pictures (film, videotape and digital materials).

The records were received in several major and numerous small accessions and the physical arrangement of the records (the order in which they are arranged in boxes/folders) reflects this. In this finding aid, the records are described in term of their intellectual organization regardless of the particular accession in which they were received. As a result, the box number order in which the descriptions are displayed in the contents list will not always be consecutive.

Artificially constructed collection of University of Michigan publications received from a variety of sources. The publications have been sorted by the name of the creating unit, office or organization. Publications within the units or organizations have not been arranged.

The Publications in this artificially constructed collection of drop boxes include annual reports, brochures, bulletins, catalogs, directories, ephemera including flyers, invitations, posters, and programs, histories, manuals, newsletters, proceedings of conferences, reports, and topical publications.

A small number of publications for which no creating organization is discernible are listed at the end of this finding aid by title. These publications include a number of student newsletters and campus guides. Major continuing units are represented as well as smaller and defunct units.

Some university publications have been individually cataloged and exist in their own record groups. As this collection serves as an unprocessed drop box for university publications, not all units will be represented. Most of the units represented consist of a few folders of material, unless otherwise indicated in the finding aid.
