The album (22 x 17 cm) is lacking covers. The exposed cover page bears a montage photograph showing printed flowers with an inscription reading "A Merry Christmas / 1897" as well as a portrait of an unidentified young man. Images of note include views of Clinton Prison, the "Warden's Garden" dedicated to Warden Walter N. Thayer, the Clinton Prison chapel, Chazy Lake and waterfalls on the Saranac River, a studio portrait of a man with a safety bicycle, and a group shot of 22 uniformed men captioned "W. N. Thayer Hose Company." Also present is a loose photograph of a dirt road in Saranac, New York.

C. Loring Brace, professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan and Curator of Biological Anthropology at the University's Museum of Anthropology. Known for extensive field research on cranial and dental material of hominid remains all over the world, particularly in Asia, to study human evolution. He has done considerable research on how structural reduction can result from Probable Mutation Effect, as well as on the development and application of the 'race' concept.

The papers of anthropologist and professor C. Loring Brace document his research, publications and teaching. Material includes extensive correspondence, research material including visual material illustrating crania, bones, teeth, and mandibles, also topical files and material Kennewick Man case. The papers are arranged in ten series: Biographical and Personal, Correspondence, 1966-2002, Correspondence, 1986-2009, Professional Service and Activities, Publications, Research, Teaching Materials, Topical Files, Kennewick, and Visual Materials.

This 838-page volume contains twelve manuscript issues of the Club Room Gazette, a literary magazine produced by the Everett Literary Association's Committee on Literary Exercises. The magazine appeared monthly and this volume, containing the twelve issues of Volume 6, covers the calendar year of 1861.

The Club Room Gazette consists primarily of manuscript documents organized into 12 issues and bound into a single volume. It includes essays, short stories, serials, travel accounts, articles, editorials, letters, poems, songs, jokes, club administrative reports, and a single obituary. In addition, the issues contain numerous hand-drawn illustrations and examples of decorative lettering.

Each issue contains varying content, as well as two monthly recurring items: an editorial essay and the ELA "Round Table." The editorial, written by the Gazette editor, reflects on events from the preceding month, the state of the Gazette, and general thoughts from the editor. The Round Table contains a combination of club news, accounts of club events, and jokes submitted by members.

While the Club Room Gazette was not, in general, a political publication, it does include some pieces relating to contemporary politics. Notably, a number of pieces discuss the outbreak of the American Civil War, slavery, and wartime military operations and preparations.

The Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) records consist of materials distributed by BAMN to members at the University of Michigan via email for school years 2017/18 and 2018/19. Topics discussed include Richard Spencer speaking on campus; immigration policies of the Trump administration, especially the separation of families at the US border with Mexico and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA); the appointment and confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court; and other anti-Trump advocacy.

The collection is arranged chronologically by when the materials were sent to membership. A handful of emails included attachments - these materials were collected into digital folders by the processing archivist to reflect the relationship between the original email and its attachments.

This collection documents the organizing efforts of the By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) membership at the University of Michigan between 2017 and 2019, advocating in support of Affirmative Action; asylum seekers and detained immigrants at the border of the United States and Mexico; and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) act. The Colorado, New Mexico, and Mexico views collection contains 24 photographs of places and people in the western United States, British Colombia, and Mexico.

The collection is stored in a modern brown plastic binder (30.5 x 23.5 cm). Contents consist of images of the Ferguson area of British Columbia; pack mules at work; a gold mine in Oatman, Arizona; Idaho Springs, Colorado; Santa Fe and Laguna, New Mexico; a woman from Cuernavaca, Mexico; buildings (including a Mexican cathedral); portraits of Native Americans in New Mexico; and mountains in Colorado. The collection include mounted and unmounted photographs ranging in size from cartes de visite to prints on 20 x 25 cm mounts.

Established in 1959 to operate academic computing facility and provide computing services for faculty and students. Developed Michigan Terminal System (MTS) operating system and other software for mainframe computers. Merged into University of Michigan Information Technology Division in 1985. Administrative records including minutes, correspondence, budget material, and reports, documenting management of the center, purchase and operation of mainframe computers, development of MTS and other software, and computer networks. Also includes paper and digital MTS distribution documentation.

Records of the Computing Center have been received in three major accessions ? 1994, 1996, and 2011. Arrangement of the records in each accession is intended to reflect complimentary series. Each accession is described separately, and there is some overlap between the two.

The 1994 accession of the Computing Center record group primarily documents the founding and operation of the University of Michigan Computing Center from 1959 to 1987. It also includes some information on computing activities at the university prior to the founding of the Computing Center, dating back as far as 1952. Researchers should note that there is overlap between this accession and 1996 accessions. There is also overlap with the Information Technology Division record group, particularly after 1986 when ITD was created to bring together the Data Systems Center and the Computing Center under the purview of the Provost for Academic Affairs.

The records, which were in a very disorganized state when accessioned into the archives, were arranged into eight series: Historical Files, Administrative Records, Topical File, MTS (Michigan Terminal System), Word Processing Project, Vendors, and Photographs.

The 1996 accessions from the Computing Center add 32 feet of additional material to the record group. The records bring (in various formats) both breadth and depth to the earlier accessions, filling in major gaps and adding new documentation. The records are organized into nine series, generally corresponding to the arrangement of the earlier accession: Administrative Records, Computer Files, MTS (Michigan Terminal System), Merit Network, MAD (Michigan Algorithm Decoder), Word Processing Project, Vendors, Software Contracts, and Topical Files. Researchers should note that there is considerable overlap between Computing Center accessions and the Information Technology record group, particularly between 1985 and 1990 and especially for financial material and major committees.
