The materials within the Students Organizing for Labor and Economic Equality (SOLE) are related to the student protests and boycotting of sweatshop-created athletic materials led by the SOLE group. The materials came from the executive restricted records of the President's Office. They are numbered in the lower left corner and there is a corresponding citation document. Not every document requested was released by the President's office. This compilation was created to support Professor Matt Lassiter's 2015 history class, and the class created a website and separately published many of these documents with the knowledge of the president's office.
Washington D.C. Office, 1992-2010
The Washington D.C. Office series (8 linear feet) contains records from the Office of Federal Relations in Research which monitors legislation and policies that may affect research at the University of Michigan. The office also serves to connect the federal government, private industries, and other organizations to the University of Michigan's research initiatives. The series contains correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes.

Communications Representative (Cindy Snyder) and Communications Director (Liz Boyd) managed Governor Granholm's public image as the main staffers in the Communications Division. The Communications Division series documents Granholm's public activities and contains audio-visual materials, newspaper clippings, and the text of Granholm's speeches. The series contains three subseries: the Staff Files (Cindy Snyder), Director's Files (Liz Boyd), and General Office Records.
