Allie Fayz is a former board member of the Islamic Center of America. The collection documents the Islamic Center of America's history, administrative services, and community activities and consists primarily of correspondence, by-laws and amendments, board minutes, committee notes, donation pledges, membership lists, photographs, newspaper clippings, and financial statements and reports.

This oversized scrapbook consists of sections of Barnum, Bailey & Hutchinson circus advertising posters. The imagery includes circus tents, musical wagons (including the "Silver-Tubed Caliope" and "Sacred Chimes"), camels and horses, animal trainers, artillerymen seemingly of Middle Eastern descent (possibly part of the "Bedouin Arab" performers), acrobats, minstrel performers, African American musicians, and portraits of P. T. Barnum, J. A. Bailey, and J. L. Hutchinson.

This scrapbook contains materials relating to the Bell Theatre, likely located in Springfield, Oregon, around the 1910s. The theatre presented motion pictures, vaudeville acts, comedy acts, contests and lectures, and other events. The items in the scrapbook include programs, tickets, advertisements, newspaper clippings about the theatre, and other printed ephemera.

The Bell Theatre advertised themselves as having "all the latest motion pictures and vaudeville," and appeared to have been managed by Wallace Potter at the time of the items' creation. Some newspaper clippings reference a legal case of the city vs. Potter, who appears to have been arrested for operating his theatre contrary to an ordinance (passed over the mayor's veto) requiring moving picture shows to pay a license fee.

One newspaper article discussed an uptick in cocaine usage, calling it a "snow" habit. Some advertised events included minstrel shows/comedy acts and "prize baby" contests.

This collection consists of two matching scrapbooks produced between 1885 and 1893 relating to the trick-cycling career of The Alden Brothers, a two-man team and vaudeville act. Items include contracts, playbills, photographs, clippings, menus, printed cards and invitations, programs (including some printed on silk), business cards, membership certificates, broadsides, and other memorabilia.

This collection consists of two matching scrapbooks produced between 1885 and 1893, relating to the trick-cycling career of The Alden Brothers, a two-man team and vaudeville act. Items include contracts, playbills, photographs, clippings, menus, printed cards and invitations, programs (including some printed on silk), business cards, membership certificates, broadsides, and other memorabilia.

Also present in the collection are letterpress broadsides which feature images of the Aldens performing a cycling trick and a letter from ascensionist Achille Philion.

Papers of Dewey Ames, a resident of the Metro Detroit Area who participated and organized athletic events, organizations, including the Gay Games. The collection is divided into two series Personal Records, and Other Materials.

The collection largely documents Dewey Ames involvement in the Gay Games throughout the 1980's and 1990's. The emphasis of these sporting events was to help the LGBTQ+ community establish a global unity and strengthen their identity. This collection is comprised largely of advertising broadsides and broadsheets relating to Isaac S. Clough's work as an inventor and manufacturer, his work with a wholesale and retail store, and his work as a salesman and patentee between 1856-1883 in New York and Philadelphia. Among others, Clough's inventions include fly, mosquito, cockroach, and mouse traps; illuminated lanterns; combination knife-fork-spoon style cutlery; firecracker guns; automaton jig dancers; cane seats; shoe blacking; boot jacks; and other "Housekeeping articles and Yankee notions."

Clough's inventions include fly, mosquito, cockroach, and mouse traps; illuminated lanterns; pastry board attachments; combination knife-fork-spoon style cutlery; firecracker guns; automaton jig dancers (being caricatures of African American dancers); cane seats; shoe blacking; boot jacks; and other "Housekeeping articles and Yankee notions." Also present are a small handful of receipts dating from around 1861 to 1872, one letter to Clough, one typed poem/jingle about his fly trap, several product labels, and a number of business cards and price lists printed on cards.

Hugh "Jeep" Holland was the founder of the A-Square Record label in Ann Arbor in 1967, and consequently became an integral part of the southeast Michigan music scene in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The collection documents, in papers, photographs and sound recordings, Jeep's personal life, interests, and career.

The Jeep Holland papers date from his youth in the late 1940s up to his death in 1998, and document his personal life, his education, and his career, particularly the record label and production company he founded, A-Square Records. The collection is comprised of the following series: Administrative, Artist Files, Personal Files, Realia, Sound Recordings, and Visual.

John and Leni Sinclair were leaders of the counterculture movement in Michigan, organizers of radical social, political, and cultural endeavors primarily in the areas of music, poetry, graphic design, and community welfare projects. Papers and photographs (1957-1979) relating to all phases of their careers, including participation in the Artists' Workshop in Detroit, the Rainbow Multi-Media Corporation, the White Panther Party and its offshoot, the Rainbow Peoples Party; also materials concerning the legalization of marijuana, radical politics, and prison reform. Also material, 1979-2000, relating to John Sinclair's work as a writer, performer, radio show host and music promoter.

The John Sinclair papers came to the library in 1979. Jointly donated by John and Leni Sinclair, this initial accession, covering the period 1957-1979, included textual material, sound recordings, and photographs relating to all phases of their careers, including participation in the Artists' Workshop in Detroit, the Rainbow Multi-Media Corporation, the White Panther Party and its offshoot, the Rainbow Peoples Party; also materials concerning the legalization of marijuana, radical politics, prison reform, and rock and jazz music.

The Sinclair papers provide a rich and unique source for the study of America's radical movement in the nineteen sixties and seventies. Beginning with a remarkable series of correspondence that includes letters from Abbie Hoffman, Allen Ginsberg, Timothy Leary, and Jerry Rubin, and continuing on through extensive subject files, the collection details the cultural, political and business activities of a man whose energy and charisma made him a local and national leader of the counterculture. In addition, the collection documents the support and creativity of his wife and partner, who as writer, photographer and publicist helped to showcase the lifestyle which he symbolized.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, John Sinclair added to his papers with materials relating to his career as a writer and performer. In the winter of 2000, he donated a second large accession relating mainly to the period since leaving Detroit for New Orleans.

The Sinclair collection has been divided into four subgroups: Textual Files, Printed Material, Sound Recordings, and Visual Material.

Research materials used by Laurie Palazzolo in writing of her book Horn Man: the Polish-American Musician in Twentieth-Century Detroit (Detroit, Mich.: American-Polish Music Society, 2003). The collection sheds light on the history of 20th century Polish-American musical landscape of greater Detroit.

The collection documents the history and repertoire of Polish folk music bands in the greater Detroit area as well as professional careers of musicians. The records date primarily from the 1940's until 1980s. Materials dated 1990s-2000s are primarily transcripts of interviews taken by Gomulka Palazzolo. Records include correspondence, business contracts, performance schedules and programs, sheet music, scanned copies of photographs, copies of Keynote magazine, biographical information and interviews of musicians, performance advertisements, and recordings. The records are arranged into five series as follows: Research files, Detroit Federation of Musicians, Sheet music, Sound recordings, and Visual materials.
