"One tawny lock brought back to my memory old Terry the dog, and the many pleasant rambles on which he was my only, but efficient protector, and a dark tress called to mind my old pony Napoleon or "Nap" - Two more packages contained precious memorials of two pet kittens…" Comments on a ring, the recipient being too busy, sending daguerreotypes, and drawing. Denies being engaged, "I like him Jennie but shall certainly never marry him, even in case he asks me - an important 'if' - I wish you would destroy this. I would not tell it to any one else." Feeling lonesome and missing Jennie. "I don't have any one to be loving, [nor?] to pet me, kiss my hand &c [now?] that I'm away from you."
