(Transcription of Loren Mayhew's diary from The University of Michigan's Tour Band's 15 week cultural exchange tour to the Soviet Union and nine Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Eastern European countries in 1961. The diary documents the experiences of Mayhew and his bandmates as they traveled to and around the Societ Union and other countries, met world leaders, and played in the concert halls of Europe as well as Carnegie Hall. Mayhew played assistant second horn during the tour and third horn during the recording session at Carnegie Hall at the end of the tour.)
The Jack McKimmy sub-series is composed of pins from the tour. One of them is from the Goskoncert (piano pin), the soviet organization that sponsored their tour through the Soviet Union. Others include Belarusian and Russian pins.

Sinta's postcards home; a note from the audience that was passed to the Band members after February 28 concert in Moscow; contents of the 1961 Tour scrapbook with original 1961 clippings and programs, as well as photos from the 1984 Band reunion (contents have been removed from the original binder); correspondence and other items related to the 1981 and 2011 reunions.
