The Washington DC series contains correspondence with important Washington policy makers, records of Michigan's federal lobbying efforts and the records of Engler's role in the National Governor's Association. From July 2000 to July 2001 Engler was Vice-Chair of NGA and Chair of its Center for Best Practices and he was NGA Chair from July 2001 to July 2002. The NGA operated from the same building in which the State of Michigan's Washington DC Office was located. The Washington DC Office's newsletter, "State of Michigan Washington Report" is also a good source for examining Michigan's lobbying efforts.
