1 [Xbre 1804] [December 1, 1804]. Manuscript copy of a letter to M. Marliani at Rue Neuve-du-Luxembourg, Paris. Has not heard from him since he departed St. Domingue. Has been writing to Marliani and Gosselin. Received a letter from his wife, telling him of Marliani's arrival in France. Is always worried about Marliani's ship travels because of the break with England. M. Robiou Savignais is traveling to France and will inform Marliani of changes to the coffee plantation affairs; he is discussing the sale of his share in the house, which will give Rousselin a new partner. Rousselin is angry about it, particularly with regard to issues of friendship, esteem, and trust. Marliani & Co. funds are safe and guaranteed by Rousselin. Had thought putting money into Robiou's establishment was the right thing to do because the war was keeping him from leaving the island. Interest and debt information pertinent to M. Gosselin.

20 [Avril 1805] [April 20, 1805]. Manuscript copy of a letter to R. B. Forbes at New York. In letters dated January 2, June 29, and August 10, 1804 informed Forbes that, in August 1803 he left George Meade in charge of the affairs of his brother J. G. Forbes. That included £4321.10 of merchandise to be sold and then for the proceeds to be passed into the hands of Marliani and Co. Heard from Meade that confirms his interest and learned that he sold part of the goods. Believes Meade passed the amount of sales to Forbes in whole or part. Please inform of the amount received and send the amount to American consul Beklyei. Expects that this letter will not have the same fate as the previous ones and that he will be honored by a response.

12 Juin 1805 [June 12, 1805]. Manuscript copy of a letter to Grant Forbes & Co. at New York. Received his of February seventh and learned of the death of George Meade. Particularly affected as Meade was a friend; his memory will be honored. Grant Forbes stated that Booth & Helmes are executor. Following up by sending an invoice for the items given to Meade for sale. Please give it to Booth & Helmes and claim the proceeds of sales by Meade and following his death. Please inform on the status; hopes to see resolution in a few months given his work and interest in business. The head of the house is well known to the Americans, with whom he worked in Jérémie during the period of unrest. Hopes for more continuous correspondence.
