File 1804 Juin 1 [June 1, 1804]. Manuscript copy of a letter to M. Gosselin at Le Havre. Received word that a parliamentarian from Jamaica arrived at Santiago de Cuba and will be leaving in six days for Nantes. Has sold all the goods brought from St. Domingue except a "paire de bracelets à cheveux." Lost profits on damaged goods. Robiou-Savignais is indisposed at Santiago. Writing from the plantation at 6 Lieues (last letter was carried by M. Duranton to France). When Robiou returns, will go to Santiago where Marliani & Co. papers are located. Has not heard word from Gosselin and worries that wife and children are in need. The recent disastrous events at St. Domingue have taken away his means and ability to provide help. Heard through Robiou who heard through M. Gallot at Baltimore that Marliani had an opportunity for business in Calais. Hopes so after the misfortunes at St. Domingue. Please tell him so. Heard that coffee sent by Marliani arrived. Respects to M. Gosselin, etc. Box 63, Small Collections In: Jean Rousselin collection, 1791-1814 » Jean Rousselin Collection, 1791-1814 » Jean Rousselin Letterbook and Correspondence Record, 1803-1805

File 1804 Juin 25 [June 6, 1804]. Manuscript copy of a letter to R. B. Forbes at New York. Has not heard from Forbes. Received a letter from Meade dated February sixth stating that he will do everything he can to help in the coffee plantation in Cuba. Meade sold a large part of his goods and, if he followed Rousselin's advice, he forwarded the amount to Forbes. Address the American consul Beklyei or to consul Défligny at Jamaica. Opportunities are less rare for Jamaica than Santiago de Cuba.
