The final subseries contains Special correspondence, mainly 1928-1966. Assembled from the Camp files, 1935-1945, and from earlier and later materials saved by Maddy and his associates, it relates to individuals of prominence or those with close personal ties to Maddy. While most corresponded directly with Maddy, occasionally, a top associate, especially Maddy's secretary, wrote. Where an individual had a continuing relationship with the Camp or reference is made to past association with Maddy, items after his death are included. Apart from the information contained on the correspondents, the subseries should prove especially valuable in association with the Camp files, 1935-1945 and 1945-1966. A name index indicates the locations of their correspondence elsewhere in the collection.

Almost all the special correspondents can be found in Who's Who or Who Was Who in America. Most gained fame in musical performance. Included are Percy Grainger, Frederic Fennell, Ferde Grofe, Pablo Casals, Howard Hanson, Josha Heifitz, Paul Whiteman, Loren Maazel, Eugene Ormandy, and Jan Sibelius. Other fields and individuals represented include music education: Peter Dykema and Will Earhart, educational broadcasting: W. W. Charters and Edgar B. Gordon, commercial broadcasting: Franklin Dunham and Judith Waller, business: S. S. Kresge and the Alden and Herbert Dow family, and politics: Wilber Brucker and Arthur Vandenberg.
