The Indian files inlcudes four sub-series: Research materials, Publications/Articles, Correspondence, and Newspapers/Newsletters. This series includes materials from indigenous tribes of North and South America, and extensive effort has been made to include proper names for identified tribes throughout the series.
The Research Materials sub-series consists of research papers, articles, reports, correspondence, and background materials on multiple indigenous tribes of North and South America. Items are arranged topically.
The Publications/Articles sub-series includes articles, papers, and correspondence regarding different tribes from North and South America. This sub-series is very closely tied to the Research Materials sub-series and there may be some general overlap between the two. Files are arranged alphabetically by author's last name.
The Correspondence sub-series includes correspondence with individuals as well as organizations such as Indian House Lake. It is arranged alphabetically.
The Newspapers/Newsletters sub-series includes tribal newspapers and newsletters as well as articles regarding geographic locations of indigenous peoples. Notable publications include: Ahskwa and Akwesase newsletters, and R.A.I.N. Smoke Signals. This sub-series may have some overlap with the Publications sub-series found in the Professional Materials series.
