Group 2

This topical files subseries, designated Group 2, is the largest of the three subject subseries (62 linear feet; bulk dates 1980-1988). The content is much the same as Group 1, except that the files date somewhat earlier and have a broader range of subject headings. Additional topics covered here include the ministry of Pat Robertson, the Theosophical Society, Freemasonry, and a variety of conspiracy topics such as the "cashless society." The Lucis Trust, which was founded by occultist Alice Bailey and has consultant status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, is also prominently featured in this series. Materials related to Nazism, White Supremacy, and the Christian Identity Movement are also present. Another strength of this group of files, as well as Group 1, is the topic of how the New Age Movement may have influenced the creation of new educational measures. Files about AIDS (some materials were filed under Homosexuality) capture the reactions and responses to the pandemic as it was unfolding in the early 1980's.
