8 7bre [1805] [September 8, 1805]. Manuscript copy of a letter to M. Marliani & Co. at Havana. Received his letter of August 18 from St. Thomas announcing his return to the colonies. Rejoices as Rousselin hadn't heard from him since leaving St. Domingue. Marliani's letter didn't give much information on his views or establishment. Reiterates status of sales, financial details. Funds remain here for want to safe means to send them; too little to speculate with, so used it to raise a small coffee plantation with Robiou Savignais. Description of his plans for repayment of capital and prospects for the house. French businesses seek to sell on account of inconstancy; believes Marliani should sell but requests not to do so until after the next harvest. Reminds Marliani of the work Rousselin did in raising his business in Port au Prince. Has little resources after spending three years of marriage. Beseeches Marliani to consider buying the share of his partner Desborder. Financial details including a dozen enslaved laborers. Expects the next year's income will produce enough to purchase more slaves. Please weigh the proposal. More details about finances, updates on Meade, J. G. Forbes, N. B. Forbes, letters from his wife, exchange rates/currency values.
