Scope and Content:

This oversized materials collection is in three oversized folders. Folder 1 is State of Michigan Executive Declarations for Gentle Friday at Central Michigan University (CMU), 1988, 2005. Folder 2 is posters of events and performers sponsored by the Program Board at CMU, 1978-1979, 1985, 2018, 20uu [2000-2024]. The posters are of actors, performers, musicians, musical groups, comedians, a magician, a LGBTQ+ Vlogger, and motivational speakers. The posters are all in color, mostly photographic, vary by size from 11 x 17 inches to 20 x 24 inches, some are signed, and some are mounted onto foamcor board. Folder 3 is a plaque of the Program Board Campus of the Year Award with newspaper article and photograph, 2001.The collection is in very good physical condition.

Organizational History:

The mission of the Central Michigan University (CMU) Program Board is to provide diverse entertainment and educational programs at an affordable cost to CMU students and the surrounding communities. Members of the Program Board assist in the planning of many CMU activities and events. Membership is open to any current CMU student. Members are those who attend a minimum of 40% of scheduled events during the semester and 67% of the general Program Board meetings, which take place once a week. The Program Board understands that members are students first, and any Program Board events and meetings are taken into consideration with regard to maintaining membership status. In 1924 when the CMU Student Council, later the Student Government Association, began meeting one of their responsibilities was to plan social events for students on campus.
